UGA-FORSALE

It makes me laugh how seriously the moderators of the UGA-FORSALE LISTSERV take their responsibility. It's even funnier how they feel the need to express their opinions on such things as handgun ownership. Relax, take a deep breath and realize you have no real power. It's a LISTSERV for goodness sakes.

Anther one. Such power she wields ...

The person who posted that she knew discussion isn't allowed but posted anyway about raising money for the injured police officer has been booted from the list. Before the list admins are attacked as heartless Scrooges, I'd like to point out that the ugastaff listserv IS a discussion list, so there is another alternative; we repeatedly tell people that violations of guidelines will result in suspension; and
violations adversely impact all subscribers on this list.

As I have said in the past, *the very existence of this list depends on the cooperation of subscribers*. If it is abused, it will be permanently shut down. The choice is between complying with the guidelines or not having the list at all. I hope subscribers will decide that this community resource should continue to exist.

We will soon be posting revised guidelines (with some more restrictions, but in an easier-to-read format) on the Staff Council website, and will announce it here when they are up; please remember that violations of the guidelines WILL result in suspension from the list.

Thanks,
Brenda
list-coadmin.

The best is when they write to the listserv saying that the listserv is not a discussion board. Then they make some stupid comment (a discussion, if you will) that begs a response and then get upset when someone calls them on it. It's just a power trip. These people probably have bosses and supervisors who make their lives hell so when they get the chance, they pay it forward. Really does make for some good times every now and then.
