i do not uunderstand why most jobs i find online send me to some resume/jobcenter/jobfiner sites! what the f***!?
but luckily for me i found some guy in south africa who is going to let me help him depoisist some money into my bank account and we are going to be rich!
and if that doesn''t work, some guy is going to send me a certified check for to work as a personal chauffer for his car company!
REALLY THOUGH... IS IT REALLY THIS HARD FOR ME TO FIND WORK IN ATHENS? ARGH!
i say we screen you college kids who''s mommy and daddy''s who want you to work for "life experience", THEN PHASE YOU OUT ! Some people need the work you are taking so they can survive, not please mom and pops so they keep paying your tuition and defense fund.\
but maybe i am just bitter....

Please excuse the grammatical errors! I was just too upset by this post...

"f*** college kids"? just because you didn't go to school doesn't mean you should hate those who have the opportunity to. I'm a student that not only goes to school full time, but has to work 30+ hours to pay rent, utilities, living expenses, car payment, etc. I know students who've worked three jobs to support themselves! Maybe if you had the same work ethic you would be employed.

department of labor website has the unemployment rate for the country and the state.
f*** college kids!

the only way i got my (minimum wage) job was by knowing someone who already worked there. that''s pretty much how it works for a lot of athens it seems -- you just have to know someone. it sucks but you can''t be too picky right now so ask friends if where they work is hiring. and when you pick up/turn in an application, make a good impression and don''t come off as a pissed-at-the-world why-won''t anyone-hire-me tool. not saying you are just saying with a bad attitude you might come off as one.

35% is actually an old poverty line statistic. I think its actually higher than that now.

I''m a college student. I have a job. Do I have it please my mommy and daddy paying my tuition? No. I pay my own tuition. And rent. And utilities. And I buy my own groceries. And have to buy clothes, toiletries, and books for class. I have just as many expenses as you. So STFU and do what the rest of the country is doing and compete for your job. Just because you think you deserve a job does not make you ANY more qualified than anyone. So stop bitching and go LOOK. That''s how I got my job.

35%? hahahahaha

03/18/2009 - 19:10

My mistake. I was misinformed.

03/18/2009 - 15:59

Erm... local unemployment rate is 7 or 8% -- actually under the state average. Do your homework.

03/18/2009 - 15:04

Athens has something near a 35% unemployment rate...you''re competing. Just keep trying. You''re efforts will pay off.

As for the attack at college students...

If you are competing for work with them, you may need to go back to school, or move to Atlanta where service jobs are a plenty.
