Panhandlers with entitlement problems

A few days ago I was called racist by a homeless guy for not giving him any money. He said that "he ain't got no disease," something about me being racist, and bitched some more.

If only he knew how hard I work for my modest pay. I'm not giving that up to some entitled misanthropic drunk

The homeless are getting to bold around here. I gave one guy more than I've ever given and he asked if he could give it back to me in exchange for a larger bill. If I'm helping someone I find it extremely rude for them to say I'm not helping enough.
And as far as "he ain't got no disease"...Honestly, I hate touching most of their hands because it always looks like they have a disease, whether they're black white or purple.
blech.

My 'vent' was specifically about him. He was very mean, rude, and acted like I was hiding my money from him, and because he was black.
I agree that there are some/many who aren't like this, but this guy in particular was AWFUL! He was very hateful to me. Maybe he could hear my story of how I work several jobs, to pay my bills, how my family doesn't hand things to me, and how I try to help out those in need through volunteering and working in healthcare. Maybe then he wouldn't be so mad when I tell him I'd like to spend my heard-earned money and time on myself once or twice a week, rather than give it away so he can avoid reponsibilites again

I don't know which homeless individual you spoke with, and I agree that occasional attitude of entitlement is really annoying, really, really annoying. However, i don't think it's any less judgmental of you to call him a misanthropic drunk without hearing the story of his situation which found him on the streets. Not all homeless people are hateful drunks.

just a thought.

There's also a guy who will scream at you if you don't give him money - may be the same one. It's amazing - does this happen in other cities? Is it just the ridiculous bums of Athens?
