AthensDoorGuy

So, AthensDoorGuy obviously works at some place like The Library or Bourbon Street or any one of those horrible college bars on the east end of downtown. I understand your frustration but you'd probably be a lot less frustrated if you didn't work in such a lame place.
The idea, though, that your somehow "tuned in" to the Athens scene because of your job is laughable. Working in crappy, lame, college-kid bars is as generic in a college town as working at McDonalds anywhere else. None of those bars has any personality or class or, even, a distinct identity from one another. They're all ridiculous and, like I said, I feel for you and all the crap you put up with but it should have been obvious from the start.

A lot of the comments here are really pathetic. So he blogs about his job. So what? Lots of people blog about their jobs. People blog about any and everything. I doubt anything you are putting up on your own web site is any better. Go ahead and think the jobs you (allegedly) have make you better than him. The rest of us know better.

He's a dick.

If you don't like what he writes....then, just don't read it, simple as that.

i'm going to agree... you. are. a. door. guy. no kidding drunk people don't make sense... news flash-- they're DRUNK... no kidding your job sucks... you are a door guy... going to that website was the biggest waste of my time... i thought, surely there is something in there... no. not at all. dumb. it made me immediately think that he must, because of how lame you have to be to write a blog like this, he must have a small pen

Amen, previous post! Amen!

Agreed. Not sure what the point of his blog is...It's like this Dude...you have a shitty job. I did too. I didn't write about it. I tried to work my way out of that shitty job ASAP and keep a low profile. Now I make a few bucks and like what I do. Occasionally I go out. You work the door at a bar..you don't matter. Your bartenders don't matter. Do I give a shit if when you give me attitude? No. I politely look past you because you have a shitty job and bitch about it. Do I give a shit when bartenders charge inconsistent amounts for drinks and or give bad service? No. I pay what they charge and tip them regardless. Do I give a shit when they glare at me when I don't tip...no, because the only reason someone doesn't get a tip from me is if they are too god damned stupid to not give me some smaller bills when they make change (sorry, I am NOT going to tip you a 20 or a 50 spot, moron). Do I tip to reward them? Do I tip to get in their good graces? No. I don't give a shit about them..they too are in the shitty job phase..they are there to pour a drink or open the beer. Don't tell me about your band, life, etc. Give me my beer and shut the fuck up. At one of the bars I frequent, the townie musician bartender got perturbed because I was talking with his girlfriend. I have no interest in her - we just converse sometimes. Ever since, he acts all pissy and charges me more. This is funny, and probably why he is unsuccessful and mired in a shitty job. Dude, I don't care if you charge me 5 or 20 bucks. It doesn't matter. Stop embarrassing yourself. Life will be better for you when you get out of the shitty job phase. Til then, you open that beer like a champ. And you guard that door like a champ. We don't want to be around kids and crackheads when we're having a few drinks...keep up the good work.. but maybe don't continue to make a fool of yourself by blogging about it.

BR tag with a slash is XHTML compliant

06/08/2007 - 13:57

I second this. I am a college student myself but I prefer to frequent a bar with personality, and without so many douchebags and bad music. Also, the slash goes before the tag in your html, except that the br tag doesn't require a slash in the first place.

Does this even count as a rant? Why didn't you put this comment in his blog instead of here?
