Theft is on the rise in Athens, dangerous drugs are about as common as liberal professors, and drunk drivers are causing innocent accidents about as regularly as a good bowel movements. And yet my tax dollars are going to pay Athens LEOs to write tickets for people in our neighborhood who are parked in the driveway because their cars are not pulled all the way to the garage. My roommates have been parking this way for the 5 years that I have owned this house, and now they write my sister a ticket for parking on the sidewalk, along with, from what I saw this morning, about 15 other people in my neighborhood. Is that really the best way to be spending my tax dollars? How many people are going to be walking down the sidewalk in a neighborhood like mine at 3 30 in the morning (when the ticket was written). Seems like a huge crock of chit to me for Athens to generate a little bit of revenue from the lack of home games for UGA this month. Way to serve and protect ACC.............

Please explain to me why they can''t make the letter O distinguishable from the number 0 or why they sometimes make the letter G look like the number 6.

Everyone is applauding that we are being so progressive to elect a black president.

It annoys me how the black community has spent decades preaching equality. MLK said that he dreamed of a day when all men would be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Take your own advice NAACP, SCLC, and other African American Organizations. Stop preaching how it is time for us to have a black president while at the same time preaching it doesn''t matter what color sombody''s sin is.

During the main push of the civil rights movement, and in the following years organizations like the NAACP had a purpose and a noble goal. To provide for the advancement of people of color that had actually been oppressed.
No one is being oppressed in today''s society for being black, asian, or any other ethnicity.
Organizations like the NAACP pushed for a program called affirmative action. Which simply stated that companies, businesses, and other programs had to hire a certain number of minority candidates.
This has done a terrible disservice to the African American community. I would be ashamed to apply for a job if I were black under affermative action. Without affirmative action, businesses had to hire the best applicant. With affirmative action it is impossible to know if you were hired because of the content of you character or the color of your skin.

How crooked can you be? I think all "Pain Management" really is is a scam. Doctors see patients for a few minutes, write them Rx''s for a multitude of Narcotics, with no regard for their health. I work at a pharmacy, and we see way too many sad addicted cases coming in daily. This type of ''healthcare'' needs reform bad, and probably many arrests. I recall on one day, we saw at least 4 or 5 patients within 30 minutes of opening, each with at least 3 Rx''s for narcotics. (Meaning that the doctor had time to see this many patients in 30 minutes and give them ''adequate healthcare'')Oftentimes, these people will decline to fill the rx''s for non-narcotics. What''s even more ''fun'' is watching their doses go higher and higher, or the amount of tylenol they take daily teeter near the maximum dosage. I often wonder how many of these patients actually are in pain, and aren''t just selling, and how many are just plain addicted. Something needs to be done. I don''t trust all these people out and about on methadone for a ''knee injury.''
With luck, in 20 years we will look back and realize how ridiculous this practice is, akin to bloodletting and head-boring.

It is not okay to throw your f***ing trash out of your car window. Please carry it back to your trailer and put it IN THE TRASH CAN! Just because your parents did nothing to educate you about how society works the rest of us should not have to pay for that. Maintain your own trash heap however you want, but our neighborhood streets are not yours to f*** up.

Look for more improvements to come, but for now the biggest change is the addition of CakePHP. Cake should make it easier to both maintain and update the site in the future so please come back often and as always ''Let Us Know'' if you have suggestions.

I don''t know why folks here think I wear collared shirts and backwards hats. I like t-shirts because high collars bother my neck. I also don''t even like to wear hats because I think they''ll make me go bald. I do wear baseball hats when I play church softball, though.

DO NOT wait 2, 3, 6 months to send me a bill and then whine about how my account is overdue. No, actually, this isn't a 'reminder'. You can't remind someone of something you haven't told them yet! You certainly can't expect to charge interest on a debt you haven't told anyone about.

I do not care how long you decided to wait to get to my account or fart around with the insurance company. That makes YOU late not ME. Sticking passive-aggressive stickers on the bill is neither cute nor professional.
