Driving

Passing in the TURN LANE

What the f? I work in an office off of Commerce Road and the entrance to my office is about 100 yards over a hill near the loop. In that area there is a turn lane in the middle of the road. Drivers out here seem to think it is okay to pass me in the turn lane when I turn right out of my office... despite the fact that they were not even over the hill when I turned. Where are the cops who should be enforcing the no-passing rule? Where are the cops who should be enforcing the NO SPEEDING rule? I can''t believe drivers could be in such a hurry that they can''t slow down to the speed limit (55) to come back to Athens.

It scares me every time it happens to me or the car in front of me, because one of these days someone is going to get in the turn lane to turn, and they''re going to get plowed by this crazy driver! Maybe the cops will keep a better eye out then...

Are you a jerk?

If you drive on 316 with your brights on, while tailgating, then yes, you are a jerk.

If you drive in the left lane on 316 while people are passing you on the right because you are going too slow, then yes, you are a jerk.

Why would anyone do either of these things?

going to town.

just wanted to say, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!" to the guy i saw masturbating on a bench at Prince and Barber on my way to work this morning.
and just when i was enjoying this unseasonably warm weather..

crosswalks

Dear Athens,
You have stopped your car ON the crosswalk. You have already run the light, why don''t you just move on through. I am sick of having to walk into oncoming traffic because I have to go around your car stopped in the middle of the crosswalk! It is unsafe for the thousands of pedestrians in Athens AND you are holding up busses that can''t make the turn because you are so far in front of the stop bar. Learn to drive.
Sincerely,
Walker-Biker-BusRider-Driver
PS- the left lane is the passing lane, not the talk on your phone and drive 10 under the speed limit lane, even on 316!

Get on the sidewalk

If you are going to ride a bike (which I think is awesome and very eco-friendly of you) please ride on the sidewalk. I know that bikers have the same rights as drivers but I also know that when I bike I always use the sidewalk when possible and it''s really no worse than road and you have a less likely chance of being killed by a car. I think biking/walking/skipping around athens are all really wonderful but I also nearly have a panic attack every time some biker decides to ride on the street and I have to nervously pass them while trying to avoid on coming traffic. And don''t get all "share the road" on me; you know it annoys you too.

Founders Day Parade

Who's idea was it to do this during rush hour? Was that really necessary?

I hate my truck!

Way to go stupid truck! I don't like you much anyways, and we were about to sell you, then, in the middle of finals, you decide not to start up (beyond just a dead battery), on the day I left my cellphone at home! FORD IS AWFUL!

Minivan drivers - wtf?

Anyone know why the drivers of minivans feel compelled to hit the breaks at every green light they encounter? And why are they ALWAYS in front of me?

Reckless SOB in the gray Chevrolet pickup: plate #BQ4GVW

I'm getting onto the two-lane off-ramp from the loop onto 316, and this s***-for-brains is weaving from lane to lane on the ramp without even using a turn signal, and ends up cutting me off. I flicker my brights at him, and he proceeds to come to a COMPLETE STOP on the off-ramp. Almost caused a 3-car pileup, including the person behind me.

I'd have called 911 on your a** if I hadn't been so furious I couldn't think straight. I find a little bit of solace in the fact that anyone so STUPID is sure to lose his license in the future.
