There should generally be pauses between words...

When I say "I'm sorry?" in response to your mouthful of gibberish screamed at me over the phone that does not mean "Please repeat that back to me as if I am an idiot". Learn how to enunciate. Also, how about you not talk to people in the background while trying to talk to me? That might help....
