I grant you, it's funny to read all the idiots bitching about each other, but this has the potential to be a forum to help our town.
YES. There is only one light associated with both the Publix shopping center and the Bed, Bath, and Beyond shopping center, and it's the one at MItchell Bridge and Atlanta Highway. Getting in and out of that area is ridiculous, and people make asinine maneuvers there constantly. I feel your pain.
There is a sign on the light. "Left lane MUST turn left". Even though it is not the sign that is meant to be posted next to the light (the expected sign is "[left turn arrow] ONLY") it is there. Also, those who are headed straight to Baxter at that point are probably aware that there is only ONE through lane for each direction, so what are people thinking the lane assignment is? the existing legislation isn't enough? there are highways with such things as minimum speed limits and "no pedestrian, bicycle, motor-driven cycle" etc. signs
I've had the same thing happen to me closer to campus too. I guess it's frustrating when people hover or tail you on a bike, but wouldn't you rather the driver be a cautious one than not? As a cyclist that has had one too many close calls in this town, I would much rather have someone follow me for a little bit and show they're aware of my presence, rather than have a wipe out because a car...
Cyclists are worse than bikers. I see them violate the rules of the road every day. Every. Day.
