This is the first time I've gotten on Athens Vent and I think it is amazing. I love reading about everyone's gripes with local issues. This is just wonderful. Thanks to everyone who participates.

Is it me or does the OP's vent look like it was written by a spambot? The body of the vent has nothing to do with the headline or really, about anything at all.

for someone who is only 20 years old, and spent their whole life in Athens... i have seen and experienced quite a bit. one thing i have come to notice is that bad service and all around rudeness has come to be expected when leaving my house. from the second i walk out the front door to the next...

Yes, it's a wonderful idea to drive for a day to come watch your football team get creamed!

You must all be GA fans then, right? IF you had any sense, you wouldn't come and cheer for the losing team, would you?

You guys must be in love with our DAWGS so much that you came here...

A shout out to the lady who let me know my gas cap was open. Thanks.

I know it's a small thing but I usually rant about bad drivers and I wanted to give some praise for once.

What's up with the most recent comment? Is it spam? Those links weren't there before and the comment has nothing to do with the topic.

Just want to say, working all school in a restaurant downtown and getting ass-raped by the sheer volume of you this year, i am so happy to say bye bye!
It will be nice to not have to bust my butt twice as hard for the same amount of money this summer.
And to all you living wage UGA...

Unless you meant it literally when you said "ass-raped by the sheer volume of you" you did imply that you were treated poorly, even if it wasn't a reference to tipping. Regarding living wage protests, just because you think someone has it better than you doesn't mean they don't have a legit complaint.

For always hiring super hot and very kind people. Even if they're not flirting with me, I can at least pretend.

HONKING FOR PEACE SEEMS COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE.

12 BUCKS ISN'T A LIVING WAGE. BESIDES, WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT RAISE COMES FROM? BUDGET CUTS? HAR HAR HAR. YEAH, THINK HIGHER TUITION, THINK HIGHER FEES.

WOMEN AGAINST... SOMETHING... ANYTHING... YEAH, DON'T REMEMBER YOUR MESSAGE, WHY?...

Thu, 04/29/2010 - 16:48

It is possible for everyone to make a "living wage". However, it is not done by any sort of minimum wage or government funding, but rather by tax reform and tax cuts that ensure people are not taxed more than 10% of their income. See http://midimagic.sgc-hosting.com/autotax.htm for...

I love my little dog. Sadly, the only pet store near where I live is Pet Supplies Plus, and to be honest, my dog hates it there. Last time we went there, she peed on the floor and expressed extreme displeasure while in that store. Don't know what it is that bothers her, the people who work there...

If the Tack and Feed place clips the dog's nails, does it not seem kind of necessary for the dog to go inside the store? Also, several pet stores provide pet grooming services... animals go inside, they do not hose them off in the parking lot. Bringing a dog inside a restaurant is probably not a good idea unless it is a service animal.

I moved to Athens in 1970 at 5 yrs old when my dad got a professor position in the history dept. I've seen Athens go through lots of changes since I've left in 2002, good and bad. I've been lurking thru various posts here lately. Seems they reflect a continuation of what I've witnessed during my...

The Manhattan is still around and thriving. Check this out, it really shows the always-evolving nature of this town:
