I am from Athens and u have always loved it here. The streets were safer and the city alot better when the goverment was not unified. Athens city should be just that. The sherriffs office is a joke. What do they do? They serve warrants.While the police department doese all the work. The PD is spread to thin to do a effecrive job, while the county sherriff gets paid for doing nothing. Speaking of nothing the county sherriffs office got 9 million buck for new jail.. where is it? What a joke

If you want someone to help you then you shouldn't insist on blowing cigarette smoke in their face.

This isn't a rant about smokers in general or health risks or anything like that. I'm not even asking that you put the cigarette down. I'm just asking that when I move slightly so I'm not downwind of your smoke you don't immediately move so that it's back in my face.

I shouldn't have to point out that it's rude so I don't get why this would happen when the person doing it is seeking help.

4 years of living in this place is killing me..

moved here 4 years ago..absolutely HATE Athens. I did not come here for UGA but for work and when people ask me how I like it here and if I'm honest about it they look at me like I'm vomited on them. This is a lame town that is based on out of control college students, alcohol and b.s. politics. UGA brings in tons of money yet screws it's employees (no, I don't work for UGA never have - just basing it on what is in the Banner and from people I know that do work there).

You shouldn't have come here and sadly since you are stuck...why not get out of your rut and find something to entertain yourself. There is other music than REM (haven't liked them in 20 years myself and don't care they broke up) and other things to do then bed...
