(undergrad) students

You ruin this town 9/12 months a year. You tip poorly, you're bad drivers, you know nothing about this town, its history or its culture and most of you are idiots who are clearly disinterested in actually learning anything at all. Education has nothing to do with a bachelor's in finance. Please stay south of Broad until you've cultivated a sense of general social etiquette.

all of the students are maaaaaaaddddddddd

Haha I just have to comment on one point brought up in the first post, even though it's off-topic a little. Education has a LOT to do with a bachelor's in finance. I realize and even empathize with your miffed attitude regarding the student body in general, but I think it's laughable that your tirade would bring into question one of the oldest and most integrated fields of knowledge and research - that of finance. The other points are definitely understandable though.

Sincerely,

An amused and yet slightly offended, "kulturní" UGA student of finance

Also, I completely agree that most of the students are not here for an education. It is sickening. There are thousands of people in this country, in this state even, who would LOVE the chance to attend a university, and here these brats are squandering all that tuition money so they can be in high school v. 2.0. Partying so much they are too hungover to even comprehend they're in class.

Posters disagreeing with OP are obviously students. I have lived here for years, and am not a student. Same goes for my friends. We all hate the students with a fiery passion. For the above reasons, and a myriad of others.
Athens would not be the same without the college, but just because being the #1 party school in America (i.e. raging alcoholics) pumps shittons of booze money into our economy does not mean I have to love my neighbors peeing on my driveway at 3 a.m. because because they suck at beerpong.
Athens is well known for it's culture, yes. The artists from lamar-dodd certainly contribute to this, but they're not the one's to complain about (as much). And our rich music scene? Definitely not just because of the students.
The only way UGA contributes to Athens in a positive way is money. There has to be someone to buy those $400 dollar dresses, only so they can puke on them when date night gets out of hand. Hell, that only helps out the local dry cleaners EVEN MORE.

Sounds like you've got something up your ass. Athens would be just another shitsville of a city without the University and the students' business.

09/04/2010 - 11:04

Prove Athens would be what it is without the college...

08/31/2010 - 12:23

So prove the OP wrong then. Simply stating that Athens wouldn't be what it is without the students doesn't mean that they aren't bad tippers or poor drivers.

08/26/2010 - 11:19

Valid? I don't think so.

08/24/2010 - 12:26

And yet the OP's point remains valid.

08/23/2010 - 15:59

And this is news?

08/23/2010 - 15:58

And this is news?

Athens would not be what it is without the college. Practice what you preach, learn the history!
