Baxter and Alps

Didn't we already have this discussion?

You can't go straight from the left-most lane at the intersection of Baxter and Alps. That lane is a left turn only lane. It is a PROTECTED left turn, FFS. So why is there always some jerk up front preventing everyone in the left lane from turning because they felt like going straight but DIDN'T feel like getting into the correct lane?

It's not even that hard to fix your mistake if you got into the wrong lane. Just turn right into the Kroger parking lot, go to the other side, and make a left from there.

There is a sign on the light. "Left lane MUST turn left". Even though it is not the sign that is meant to be posted next to the light (the expected sign is "[left turn arrow] ONLY") it is there. Also, those who are headed straight to Baxter at that point are probably aware that there is only ONE through lane for each direction, so what are people thinking the lane assignment is? Left lane for left/straight and right lane for straight/right turn? or left lane for left/straight and right lane for right turn? As for the OP's problem, consider making the left onto Alps from Riverhill instead?

I assume you mean coming out of the Rusan's/SteinMart/etc complex? I was once guilty of this - they REALLY need to repaint the arrows on those lanes! For someone unfamiliar, it looks like it's a left-or-straight lane - especially b/c the light for that lane has two rows - a turn and a solid green (which happen to only work in concert, if I remember correctly). A sign on the light would also be helpful, since half the time the arrows in the lanes are covered by cars.....
