Bye students!

Just want to say, working all school in a restaurant downtown and getting ass-raped by the sheer volume of you this year, i am so happy to say bye bye!
It will be nice to not have to bust my butt twice as hard for the same amount of money this summer.
And to all you living wage UGA workers protesting, SHUT UP. At least you most of you folks get benefits, vacation, and for the most part paid above min wage .
Really, every time i see you all handing out flyers and/or protesting i want to beg you to trade jobs with me so you can see how good you freaking got it.
And yes, i have tried to applied to UGA. The labor department said i should dumb down my resume....

Unless you meant it literally when you said "ass-raped by the sheer volume of you" you did imply that you were treated poorly, even if it wasn't a reference to tipping. Regarding living wage protests, just because you think someone has it better than you doesn't mean they don't have a legit complaint.

wal-mart has almost the same practices as UGA.

OP here.
i believe in a living wage for every worker. Not just UGA workers.
And yes, dumb down... i have a degree in culinary arts ... they said to dumb down my application while apply to UGA for a better chance to get hired in the "kitchen" .
Most of the jobs posted on the human resources page(besides seasonal.replacement. and temporary)positions do offer benefits. I would gladly take home minimum wage if there were health and dental benefits offered.
In no way did i say anything about students not tipping, how they are as people, ect... so i am sorry if you feel that way.
I do read your little flyers and such. And i understand where you are coming from... but why not go another step and support a living wage for everyone and not just UGA workers?

The folks at the living wage campaign are, for the most part, NOT employees of the university: they are students who are engaged enough in their community to know the grave injustices of UGA employment policies, which is more than you can say for most students (because I agree with you, the majority of the students at UGA are mindless, selfish idiots who DEFINITELY don't tip well).
Also, you have your facts wrong about benefits and pay for workers at UGA--next time you get a flyer, instead of thinking of yourself, read it!
The university starts workers at a base pay of $7.25 (minimum wage). They are not allowed overtime pay, and most workers are kept at "part time" or "seasonal" (the university does this by firing then rehiring people) status or they are contracted workers, so they receive no benefits (they don't even get parking spots on campus!) UGA is the #1 employer in the county, yet Athens-Clarke is the 4th poorest in the United States--obviously a living wage is a necessary step to rectifying the disparity.
I won't miss the students either, but please refrain from running your mouth about something as crucial as a living wage for UGA workers when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Based on this rant it's really hard to believe your resume wasn't already way dumbed down! Go get em tiger!
