Wal-Mart

Why does Wal-Mart have 30 check out lanes and only 3 open? It's not just the ones in Athens, it's like that at every Wal-Mart all the time!

They understaff to cut costs. It's also why you can't find anybody when you need to ask where an aisle is etc. Really annoying for the customer, but people keep coming back because of the low prices (which are able to be low because they understaff). It's a vicious circle.

Couldn't they cut costs when they build a new Wal-Mart by not building 30 lanes?

They need those 30 lanes sometimes, such as Black Friday etc.

Oh ok now I understand. Once a year.

I think there is a pretty high turn over rate of employees. I'm not sure if this is true for the Wal-Marts in Athens or anything but I have heard people in a different city complain that it was difficult to find people who wanted to work as a cashier AND could pass the drug tests and credit check. They would be ready to hire someone and the drug test would come back positive for something. Mildly interesting but probably has a lot more to do with keeping the prices low though.

Well whatever the reason it's pretty annoying! Look out Target here I come!

You are exactly right. Athens needs a super Target.... I would never have to set foot in wal-mart again.

Who needs Super Target?! Publix is not all that expensive in comparison if you shop their ad. They're really clean, and I swear...if I'm waiting in line for like more than a minute, usually a manager or customer service person will come open a lane so no one has to wait. I don't shop anywhere else. F*ck Walmart. I hate that hell-hole.
