(The light at the intersection of Baxter and Alps & driving away from the movie theater.)
1) From the right hand lane you can turn right or go straight. From the left hand lane you can turn left, and that's it. You cannot go straight from the left hand lane. The arrows painted on the ground clearly indicate this.
2) Traffic in the left hand lane will never trigger the regular green lightonly the green arrow., They installed that device that detects when a vehicle is sitting at the light so that the lights can change based on traffic instead of just a timer (you can see the score marks in the pavement if you look). If you are in the left hand lane and nobody is in the right hand lane you are going to be sitting there for forever. Someone has to be in the right lane to before the regular light will turn green. (Likewise, the left turn light won't come on if no one gets in the left lane)
I point all of this out because twice now I've ended up sitting through a green light in the left turn lane because the person in front of me wouldn't go because they didn't want to turn left. No one was in the right hand lane but instead of changing lanes or turning left and cutting through the Kroger parking lot to get back to Baxter they just sat there.
