I moved to Athens in 1970 at 5 yrs old when my dad got a professor position in the history dept. I've seen Athens go through lots of changes since I've left in 2002, good and bad. I've been lurking thru various posts here lately. Seems they reflect a continuation of what I've witnessed during my last few years there. I live in San Angelo, TX now. Where I live is more or less like Athens was in the late 1970s before it reached critical mass, minus the trees. I remember the days where people more or less respected each other's pace of life and lifestyle. It appears the roads and driving habits are still the same (though that never was a major peeve of mine). Any feedback from "natives" would be appreciated. BTW, is the Manhattan Cafe still around?
AthensVent is where Athens comes to freely express opinions, heap praise on those who deserve it and expose local stupidity. If you have something you want to get off your chest then you are in the right place. Sit back, relax and Let 'Em Know
