Listerv nonsense

I suppose this problem is not just in Athens, but everywhere: people who send or forward multiple copies or random personal stuff to listservs. I especially hate it when it's done by coworkers. I know there are specific listservs that cater to this kind of telenovela-type thing, but when you're on a serious, work listserv:

A) If you got a (generally meaningless) email about so-and-so retiring from your supervisor, chances are that your supervisor sent a copy to everyone; so please do not forward it again. I especially hate these double-forwarders when they add their own little personal note [ so sad!!! :( ]. The email was sent to everyone for general knowledge, not sent directly to you because you're special and we wanted to hear your thoughts before passing it along.

B) Some random celebrity died... You really liked them when you were a wild teen.... ...... Okay. Why did you email that to the listserv? I don't care about the celebrity and I don't care that you care about the celebrity. Why would you think we care??

I can't think of anymore, but I know there are more offenders out there... Just give me a few minutes, I'm sure another one will pop up in my inbox momentarily. Grrr.

It's like email and Twitter mated and spawned Facebook's annoying younger cousin: RLC Random Listserv Crap

I share your hate for the double-fowarders. Sometimes you get the double-fowarders who add a note about how the original e-mail was important and we should all read it. GAH!

How about the ones where the only new information is about how something isn't fixed yet? Unless someone promised it would be fixed by a certain time these are unnecessary.

Similarly, I hate it when people send whole new e-mails that only have information somebody sent out already. It'd be one thing if they were only a few minutes apart but hours or the next day? People, check your e-mail before you send a message to everyone about an issue they've already gotten an e-mail about!

Oh, and the 'personal note' people: If you're sad someone's leaving send the e-mail to them. At least learn the difference between 'Reply' and 'Reply All'.
